Derived from the dried root bark of the Polygalaplant, also known as “Mind-Awakening Herb.” It is warm in nature, bitter in taste, and acts on the heart, kidney, and lung meridians. Listed as a superior herb in Shennong’s Classic of Materia Medica, it is noted for “enhancing wisdom and strengthening memory.” It helps harmonize the heart and kidney, calm the spirit, and improve mental clarity, often used for insomnia, forgetfulness, and anxiety caused by heart-kidney imbalance. It can be decocted, made into pills, or steeped in wine—a classic herb for tranquility and focus.
